About Musholm

Musholm is a Danish aquaculture company specialized in trout farming. Main products are frozen trout and trout roe.

The production covers the full life cycle of the trout from the eggs in hatcheries and smolt in land-based fish farms to large trout in sea farms. The trout is 2 years freshwater and then moved to the sea in spring and harvested from October to December.

In 1979 Musholm established the first sea farm in the Great Belt. Today hatcheries and land-based farms are situated in Jutland and the sea farms in the Great Belt.  Processing factories and head office are located in Reersoe and Korsoer.

Our largest sea farm, ‘Musholm Vest’, is ASC-certified since 2016. Musholm is also developing Science Based Targets for Nature as part of a global NGO-driven initiative.

Musholm A/S is part of Okamura Foods CO., LTD. with full ownership since 2019.

The business relation was established in 1990 with the first contract for export of trout products from Musholm to Okamura Foods.

Japan Salmon Farm, a subsidiary of Okamura Foods, established a full-scale aquaculture production in Aomori in Northern Japan in 2017 based on export of fish farming technology and other Danish equipment from Musholm. This transformed Okamura Foods from being a major salmon and trout roe processor and fish distributor into a fully integrated aquaculture company and Japan’s biggest trout farmer.

In cooperation with Musholm A/S, Okamura Foods aims to become one of the 20 largest trout aquaculture producers globally.
